After seeing some beautiful bouquets get thrown out after a high-end wedding, I had an question: why were they getting thrown out instead of being re-used? These flowers still had so much vibrant life left in them. 

After asking local florists and event planners, I realized that this is a common occurrence. Most flowers after a high-end event are thrown away. 

Hopefully not for much longer. 

I started Second Stems with the mission to repurpose premium event flowers. Every weekend, we partner with local event planners and florists to recover and repackage flowers. We sell some and donate the rest to local hospitals, schools, and nursing homes (really anyone in need of a floral pick-me-up). 

In doing so, we hope we can lower the entry point to beautiful bouquets, so it's not just the 1% who can afford them. I'm convinced that flowers are God's Gift to the world: something so intricately beautiful that reminds us of the everyday joy of life.
